Lieutenant George Bertrand COOTE, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, attached 50th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), killed in action, 27th May 1918, age 22.

Son of Charles Lewis Coote (Barrister at Law), and Sybil Theodora Coote, of 84, West Cromwell Road, Earl's Court, London. Youngest of four brothers.

Educated at The Grange, Folkestone & Radley, College, Abingdon, Berkshire.

George Bertrand Coote, was following his father into law until war broke out. Instead, he joined up and survived being buried by a shell at Ypres. His elder brother, Captain Richard Markham Coote, died in the second attack on Loos. George Bertrand Coote was killed days after his 22nd birthday. His body was never found and their heartbroken mother devoted years to producing needlework to rqaise money for crippled ex-servicemen.

31st May 1919, Probate - Coote George Bertrand, of 84, West Cromwell Road, Middlesex, Lieutenant Royal West Kent Regiment, attached M.G.C. died 27th May 1918 in France Killed in Action. Administration London 31st May 1919 to Charles Lewis Coote, Barrister at Law. Effects £197 15s 7d.

Commemorated at Soissons Memorial, Aisne, France, Lincolns Inn & Radley College.
