Royal West Kent Regiment - 2nd Lieutenant (temporary Lieutenant),  C L Dunkerley, to be Lieutenant,  with precedence as from 1st June 1916 - 5th May 1917.

Royal West Kent Regiment -The under mentioned Lieutenants to be acting Captains whilst commanding a Company -

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to confer the Military Cross on the under mentioned Officers and Warrant Officers in recognition of their gallantry and devotion to duty in the Field :

Lieutenant Cecil Lawrence Dunkerley, Royal West Kent Regiment.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. After all the gun crews of a tank had become casualties he ascertained how to work the gun, and kept up fire during the withdrawal of the tank, thus preventing further counter-attacks on the part of the enemy. He displayed great gallantry and resource at a critical moment.
