His Majesty The KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal to the under mentioned Warrant Officers, Non-commissioned Officers, and Men, for gallantry and distinguished service in the Field:

19762, Lance Serjeant J WHITE, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment. (Liverpool)

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led a patrol to locate a hostile machine gun which was causing  casualties in his company. He rushed this with his party, killed two of the team and took another prisoner. Finally, he got two of his men who were wounded safely back. He showed fine courage and initiative.
