Lance Serjeant Joseph Richard HOLLAND, G/18087, 7th Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds, 13 Stationary Hospital, Boulogne, France, 9th October 1916, age 21.

Born Hintlesham, Suffolk, son of John and Elizabeth Alice Holland, of Lodge Farm, Sudbourne, Orford, Suffolk.

Enlisted Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, age 20, height 5ft 11 inches, weight 147lbs.  Resided Lodge Farm, Sudborne, Orford, Suffolk. Formerly farmer.

8th June 1915, enlisted 3/1 Suffolk Yeomanry, Service No.2166; 1st May 1916, appointed Acting Corporal; 26th July 1916, appointed Acting paid Lance Sergeant; 22nd August 1916, Hatton Camp Kent?, attempting to obtain harvest leave by stating a falsehood, severely reprimanded; 27th August 1916, posted 1/4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment; 27th August 1916, Folkestone, embarked; 27th August 1916, Boulogne, disembarked; 28th August 1916, 15 Infantry Base Depot; 7th September 1916, transferred to Royal West Kent Regiment, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.
