Lance Serjeant Arthur Ernest John HOBDEN, G/7303, 8th Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment,  (formerly 108, Royal Sussex Regiment), killed in action, Flanders France, 9th September 1917, age 31.

Born Falmer near Brighton, Sussex, son of Arthur and Mary Ann Hobden, of Yew Tree Cottage, Falmer, Lewes, Sussex.

1911 Census - Yew Tree Cottage, Falmer, Lewes, Sussex  - Arthur Hobden, head, age 48, married, Estate bricklayer, worker, born Falmer, Sussex; Mary Hobden, wife, age 49, married 28 years, 3 children, all still alive, born Hove, Sussex; Arthur Hobden junior, son, age 24, single, Estate General labourer, worker, born Hove, Sussex.

Enlisted Lewes, Sussex.

Buried at The Huts Cemetery, V. A. 8., Belgium. Commemorated on Falmer War Memorial.
