Lance Corporal William John HILLS,  G/11850,  "C" Company, 7th Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action, Flanders France, death presumed on or after, 28th March 1918, age 24.

Born Riverhead, Kent, son of Uriah and Sarah Hills, of 38, Chipstead Lane, Riverhead, Sevenoaks, Kent.

1911 Census - Chipstead Lane, Riverhead, Sevenoaks, Kent - Uriah Hills, head, age 52, married, cowman on farm, born Sudbury, Suffolk; Sarah Hills, wife, age 45, married 23 years, 2 children, both still alive, born Northiam, Sussex; Edith Hills, daughter, age 20, single, born Chevening, Sevenoaks; William Hills, son, age 17, single, carpenters apprentice, worker,   born Chevening, Sevenoaks.

Enlisted  Sevenoaks, Kent, age 22 years & 7 months, height 5ft 9¾ inches, weight 123lbs. Resided  38, Chipstead Lane, Riverhead, Sevenoaks, Kent. Formerly joined.

21st February 1916, enlisted.

16th December 1918, date when Separation Allowance of 7/9 a week payable to mother will cease.

Commemorated at Pozieres Memorial, Panel 58 and 59., France. & St Botolph Church, Chevening, Kent.
