Previously served 4 years with 5th Battalion, (Territorial Force), Royal West Kent Regiment.

25th April 1915, Sidcup Kent, Walter J S J Hawes married Louisa Mary Cox, spinster.

1st February 1917, Probate - Walter James Sidney Johnson Hawes, of 4 Birkbeck Road, Sidcup, Kent. Lance Corporal West Kent Regiment, died 13th July 1916, in France on active service, Probate London 1st February to Louisa Mary Hawes, widow. Effects £130 10s.

5th February 1917, pension of 10/6 a week awarded to widow, Mary Louisa Hawes, Beech Hurst, Granville Road, Sidcup, Kent.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, France.
