Enlisted Canterbury, Kent, age 19, height 5ft 9inches / 5ft 10½ inches, weight 152lbs. Resided The Cottage, Saxon Road, Westgate on Sea, Kent. Formerly bottler.

Home 16th May 1915 to 20th September 1916; BEF 21st September 1916 to 29th September 1918.

16th May 1915, enlisted into Royal East Kent Mounted Rifles, (REMT), 2615 & posted 3/1 Battalion; 15th June 1915, transferred to 2/1 Battalion; 25th April 1916 to 27th May 1916, Herne Bay Hospital, impetigo; 21st September 1916, posted Infantry Depot France; 11th October 1916, transferred to 4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, posted11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 23rd February 1918, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 7th May 1918, posted Corporal, 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 29th September 1918, posted wounded & missing.

Probate - Robert William Beal, of the Pumping Station, Westgate on Sea, Kent, Corporal 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, died on or since 29th September 1918 in France. Administration (with will), Canterbury 10th April 1920, to Matilda Beal, (wife of Robert John Beal). Effects £166 3s 3d.

Commemorated at   Tyne Cot Memorial, Panel 106 to 108, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
