31st August 1914, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, enlisted 52nd Company, M.T.Depot, Army Service Corps, Service No. T/36417, age 19, born Nutfield, Redhill, Surrey, formerly motor engineer; 1st September 1914, entrained at Tunbridge Wells for Maidstone Depot of Royal West Kent Regiment, should have been to Aldershot ASC Depot; 2nd September 1914, entrained at Maidstone for Woolwich; 4th September 1914, entrained Woowich for Aldershot; 7th September camped at Aldershot until 7th and then returned with party to Maidstone Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th September 1914, left Maidstone to join his Battalion at Shoreham by Sea ; 11th January 1915, No papers having been received concerning this recruit at that time, he was re-attested at Worthing into Royal West Kent Regiment, and given the Regimental No 5441; 21st December 1914, appointed Lance Corporal.

11th January 1915, Worthing, Sussex, enlisted Royal West Kent Regiment, age 19, height 5ft 9½inches, blue eyes, light brown hair. Resided 32 Gladstone Road, Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Formerly motor mechanic.

11th January 1915, enlisted; 14th May 1915, promoted to Corporal; 30th August 1915, embarked; 11th April 1916, leave to England;

28th July 1919, Statement of Relatives - Father, John William Bolton, 32, Gladstone Road, Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent; Mother, Harriet Bolton, 32, Gladstone Road, Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent; Sisters - Agnes Bolton, age 26, 10 Neville Park, Tunbridge Wells, Kent; Jessie Kate Bolton, 32, Gladstone Road, Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Commemorated at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Panel 45 & 47, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
