Corporal George Rowland KAY, G/39004, 7th  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, (formerly 138218, Royal Engineers), killed in action, Flanders France, 4th November 1918, age 21.  

Born Barrow, Lancashire, son of Thomas George and Mary Jane Kay, of Bryn Teg, Arnside, Westmoreland. 

1911 Census - Bryn Teg, Arnside, Westmoreland - Thomas George Kay, head, age 40, married, Railway Traffic Agent, Joint London & North West Railway & Midland, Traffic Department, Railway Company, worker, born Bolton.le-Sands, Lancashire; Mary Jane Kay, wife, age 44, married 16 years, 2 children, both still alive, born Nantwich Cheshire; John Preston Kay, son, age 15, single, school, born Nantwich Cheshire; George Roland Kay. son, age 14, born Barrow in Furness, Lancashire.

November 1915, enlisted in Royal Engineers, Chatham, Kent. Resided Westmoreland.   

Buried at Montay-Neuvilly Road Cemetery, III. B. 14., Montay, France.

NOTE: Soldiers Died in the Great War spell firstname ROWLAND; CWGC web site spell it ROLAND.
