Born Millwall, Essex, enlisted 8th September 1914, Deptford, age 19, height 5ft 4 inches, weight 114lbs. Formerly river carrier.

Wounded 26th September 1915

Demobilized 22nd February 1919.

AWARDED THE DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL

2679 Private (Lance Corporal ) C. Andrews, West Kent Regiment. (Poplar, London, E ).

AWARDED THE DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He dressed and removed the wounded under heavy fire during an engagement and showed great courage and energy throughout. He has done valuable work during a long period.

AWARDED CLASP TO THE DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during a raid on the enemy trenches. He did valuable work in carrying messages and attending to the wounded in the enemy's wire during the raid. He carried back two wounded men under heavy shell fire and worked for several hours until all the wounded had been brought in. He set a splendid example of courage and self sacrifice.
