Corporal Archibald Cory HEDGE, L/9448,  2nd  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of typhus, whilst a Prisoner of War, with Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force, * 24th January 1917.

* Certificate from Ottoman Red Cross Society shows date of death as 24th July 1917

Enlisted Maidstone, Kent, age 17 years & 9 months, height 5ft 7¾ inches, weight 124½lbs, grey eyes, brown hair, round scar outer side ???. Previously rejected as under chest ????. Formerly clerk.

9th September 1909, enlisted into Special Reserve, Royal West Kent Regiment, Service No.7911; 6th March 1910, joined Regular Army, Royal West Kent Regiment;


1911 Census - Quebee Barracks, Royal West Kent Regiment, Headley, Hampshire - Archibald Hedge, Private, age 19, single, 1st Battalion,  Royal West Kent Regiment, Soldier, born Maidstone.


6th February 1915, posted Asiatic Theatre of War.

Buried at Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, XXI. Y. 27., Iraq.
