Royal West Kent Regiment - The under mentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants. - W G Dove.

With reference to the awards conferred as announced in the London Gazette dated 18th February 1918, the following are the statements of service for which the decorations were conferred:

AWARDED A BAR TO MILITARY CROSS

2nd Lieutenant (Temporary Captain) William George Dove, MC., Royal West Kent Regiment, Special Reserve.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When an attack was held up, he collected a few men, and with great courage and skill attacked and captured an enemy position which was held by greatly superior numbers, nearly all of his party being killed or wounded. He was taken prisoner, but the enemy retired and he escaped, taking three prisoners. His commanding officer having been killed, he assumed command, and directed the attack wit the greatest courage and disregard of all danger.

Royal West Kent Regiment - Temporary Captain E G V Hughes to be Adjutant, 6th Battalion, vice temporary Captain W G Dove, MC., (Lieutenant 3rd Battalion, Special Reserve). 13th February 1919.

London Gazette 2nd May 1919.

Royal West Kent Regiment - Lieutenant W. G. Dove (3rd Battalion, Special Reserve) relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain and the appointment of Adjutant on ceasing to be employed  with 6th Battalion. 12 February 1919.

SPECIAL RESERVE OF OFFICERS - RESERVE UNITS - INFANTRY.

The under mentioned relinquish their commands. 1st April 1920.

3rd Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment - Lieutenants and are granted the rank of Captain. - W. G. Dove, M.C.
