Second Lieutenant Jack Maynard HARDING, 1st  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action, at the First Battle of Ypres, Flanders, France, 26th October 1914, age 20.

Born 4th October 1894, Berhampore, India, son of Lieutenant Colonel Maynard Ffolliott Harding, (Commanding 69th Punjabis)  and Violet Harding, of Les Landes, Castel, Guernsey.


1911 Census - Felstead School, Felstead, Great Dunmow, Essex - Jack Maynard Harding, age 16, single, school, born India.


Educated Felsted School, he represented his school for Gymnastics at Aldershot & for musketry at Bisley. He proceeded to the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, where he was in the gymnastics team, 1913, and won his blue.

August 1914, Gazetted Second Lieutenant; spent two weeks at the Depot & on 11th September 1914, joined his Battalion in France

Commemorated at Le Touret Memorial, Panel 30 and 31, France.
