His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the following awards to the under mentioned Officers and Warrant Officers in recognition of their gallantry and devotion to duty in the Field:
AWARDED THE MILITARY CROSS
2nd Lieutenant Harry Thomas Lavington Dibben, 4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, Territorial Force, seconded 42nd Battalion Machine Gun Corps.
In the attack on Marcoing on the 28th September 1918, this officer noticed a considerable gap between the divisions. Without hesitation he at once went forward under heavy machine gun fire, collected some men and with them and his two machine guns, succeeded in closing the gap, thereby securing the line. His gallantry and initiative afforded a most inspiring example at a critical moment.
