26th August 1915, Plymouth, Archibald William Catt, age 33, Military, (64 Church Road, Tonbridge, Kent), arrived from Lagos, Africa on British & African Steam Navigation Ltd ship S.S.Mendi,
1915 December Tonbridge District, married Kate Withers, of 19, Mereworth Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
6th July 1918, Probate - Catt Archibald William, of 84 St Marys Road, Tonbridge, Lieutenant Royal West Kent Regiment, died 9th March 1918, Dar Es Salaam, East Africa on Active Service. Administration London 6 July to Kate Catt, widow. Effects £295 9s 10d.
Buried at Dar Es Salaam War Cemetery, 4. C. 3., Tanzania.

His Majesty the KING has been pleased to confer the under mentioned rewards for gallantry and distinguished service in the Field. The acts of gallantry for which the decorations have been awarded will be announced in the London Gazette as early as practicable:

With reference to the awards conferred as announced in the London Gazette dated 26th March 1918, the following are the statements of service for which the decorations were conferred.
AWARDED THE MILITARY CROSS
Temporary 2nd Lieutenant (Temporary Lieutenant) Archibald Williams Catt, Royal West Kent Regiment and Nigerian Regiment.
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He rendered invaluable assistance to his commanding officer, and when the latter became a casualty he assumed command, and continued to hold the line until the enemy retired. He has previously displayed fine soldierly qualities in action.
