Sergeant William John LATTER, TF/265156, 7th   Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action, Belgium, 12th October 1917, age 31.

Born Tunbridge Wells, Kent, son of William and Minnie Latter.

September 1910, Tonbridge Registration District, married Ella Denton, of 14, Commercial Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.


1911 Census - 66 Norman Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent - William John Latter, head, age 24, married, gas fitter, Tunbridge Wells Gas Company, worker, born Tunbridge Wells, Kent;  Ella Latter, wife, age 24, married under one year, no children, born Tunbridge Wells, Kent.


Children - Doris Ella Latter, born 14th December 1911; Ethel Ivy Latter, born 17th June 1913; William George Latter, born 4th November 1914.

Enlisted Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Resided Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Commemorated at Tyne Cot Memorial, Panel 106 to 108., Belgium & Tunbridge Wells War Memorial.

NOTE: Extract from Tunbridge Wells Roll of Honour - "..... He is remembered at the Tyne Cot Memorial but was buried in the Tunbridge Wells Cemetery after dying at home from injuries." I cannot find any record of his burial at Tunbridge Wells Cemetery.
