Sergeant George Thomas SPRINGBETT, G/10838, 11th  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment,  died of wounds, Flanders, France, 17th September 1916, age 34.

Born Rushall, Wiltshire, son of George Hayter and Ann(e) Ellen Springbett, of College Farm, Upavon, Marlborough, Wiltshire.

31sat March 1908, Free Discharge from Volunteer Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

28th July 1910, St John, Deptford, Lewisham, George Thomas Springbett, age 28, bachelor, school master, 9 Alloa Road, Deptford Park, father George Hayter Springbett, farmer, married Lizzie Grace Shoobridge, age 26, spinster, school mistress, 47, Albyn Road, St. John's, London, S.E.8. father John Shoebridge, Railway Station Master.

Enlisted Lewisham, SE, age 33 years & 312 days, height 5ft 9 inches, weight 168lbs.  Resided 43 Tyrwhitt Road, Brockley, St Johns, SE. Formerly schoolmaster.

Home 8th November 1915 to 2nd May 1916; BEF 3rd May 1916 to 17th September 1916.

14th March 1917, Military Medal received by widow, Mrs L G Springbett, 47, Albyn Road, St Johns, London, SE.

Buried at Etaples Military Cemetery, X. E. 3A., Pas de Calais, France.
