Born Crayford, Dartford, Kent, enlisted 11th February 1912, Woolwich, age 18, height 5ft 7 inches, weight 133lbs, resided 12 Button Street, Swanley Junction, Kent. Scar back of left hand, nose deformed, tattooed sailor & tombstone back of left forearm, tattoo marks both forearms, chest & both legs. Formerly farm labourer.

Son of George (deceased) & Elizabeth, 21 Bexley Lane, Crayford, Kent.

Previously served in 3rd Battalion, Special Reserve, Royal West Kent Regiment.

Home, 16th February 1912 to 21st October 1913; India, 22nd October 1913 to 31st January 1915; Indian Expeditionary Force, 1st February 1915 to 4th August 1915; India, 5th August 1915 to 5th February 1917; Indian Expeditionary Force, 6th February 1917 to 28th March 1917; Home, 29th March 1917 to 20th December 1917.

11th February 1912, enlisted; 20th February 1912, joined the Regiment at Dublin; 22nd October 1913, posted 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 29th March 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th July 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

20th December 1917, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued
