15th May 1915, enlisted ; 16th May 1916, to Army Reserve; 2nd January 1917, mobilized; 5th January 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th May 1917, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th May 1917, posted 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 7th June 1917, wounded, gun shot wound right thigh serious; 12th June 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 2nd August 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th February 1918, posted Infantry Base Depot, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; Prisoner of War in Germany, wounded from blast splinter, reported on an official German list; 19th January 1919, repatriated at Leith & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 31st May 1919 to 30th July 1919, furlough from Kitchener Hospital, Brighton, Sussex, repatriated Prisoner of War.

19th August 1919, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued

Pension, 22/- per week, 20th August 1919 to 2nd September 1919, then 32/- a week to be reviewed in 50 weeks. Disability 80%, gun shot wound abdomen.
