28th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th October 1914, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 25th August 1915, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th April 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 13th April 1916 to 16th September 1916, Plymouth General Hospital, bullet wound to back; 8th July 1916, Patient transferred to Chard Convalescent Home; 25th July 1916, readmitted Plymouth General Hospital, with abscess on left side, wound drained and restitched; 6th September 1916, to Furlough; 26th September 1916 to 1st December 1916, Depot bullet wound to back, has done marching whilst at Depot; 13th December 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th January 1917, Luton, overstaying his pass from 12.00 midnight until 8.15pm 15th January, whilst under orders for a Draft, 21 days Field Punishment No.2, forfeits 1 days pay; 7th February 1917, posted BEF; 28th February 1917, In the Field, being on Parade with dirty boots, deprived of 2 days pay.
