Enlisted  Faversham Kent, age 19 years & 1 month, height 5ft 5½ inches.  Resided 33 Kingsnorth Road, Faversham, Kent. Formerly butchers assistant.

Home 4th January 1915 to 22nd March 1916; BEF 23rd March 1916 to 8th October 1916.

4th January 1915, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th January 1915, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st June 1915, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 23rd March 1916, posted BEF & 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 23rd March 1916, embarked; 2nd August 1916, 40 Infantry Base Depot, from 14 General Hospital; 7th August 1916, posted 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th August 1916, joined Battalion.

11th October 1916 letter to Mrs Clackett from Sgt T J Sleet, "C" Company - With deep regret I must inform you of the death of your son. He was badly wounded during one of the recent advances and succumbed to his wounds a day later the 8th. We buried him on the morning of the 9th.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier and Face 11 C, Somme France.
