Born Thornton Heath, Surrey, enlisted 1st November 1915, Lewisham, age 38, height 5ft 2 inches, weight 126lbs, resided 11 Nelgarde Road, Catford. Formerly house decorator.

Husband of Caroline Elizabeth Field (nee Farrell, widow), 11 Nelgarde Road, Catford. Married 11th April 19147, Lewisham Register Office.

Children - Frederick Walter Field, born 2nd July 1914, Lewisham; George Field, born 27th October 1915, Lewisham.

1st November 1915, enlisted & posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd May 1916, posted BEF; 22nd July 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 22nd July 1916 to 2nd October 1916, 1st Birmingham War Hospital, shell shock, shell burst near him & threw him about 20 yards. Recovered from shell shock but afterwards collapsed. Complains of pains in back; ; 3rd October 1916 to 18th October 1916, Military Hospital Lewisham, rheumatic fever; 18th October 1916 to 11th November 1916, Bermondsey Military Hospital, rheumatism, has had rheumatic pains since June 1916 but did not report sick. Contracted rheumatic fever after his recovery from shell shock in Birmingham War Hospital and was admitted to Lewisham Military Hospital when he had 5 days ???? Transferred to Bermondsey on admission there were rheumatic pains in left thigh and knee; 21st November 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

25th March 1917, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued

Pension of 15/- a week for 26 weeks conditional.
