Previously served in 3rd Battalion, Special Reserve, Royal West Kent Regiment. 

Son of John Bridges, 13 Coleman Street, Woolwich, Kent / 48 Kingman Street, Woolwich, Kent.

Home, 23rd September 1904 to 3rd November 1905; China, 4th November 1905 to 27th November 1906; Home, 28th November 1906 to 6th December 1908; India, 7th December 1908 to 11th October 1914; Home, 12th October 1914 to 25th August 1914; BEF, 26th August 1914 to 30th October 1914; Home, 31st October 1914 to 7th December 1914.

23rd September 1904, enlisted, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 4th November 1905, posted 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th October 1912, transferred to Army Reserve; 5th August 1914, mobilized; 6th August 1914, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th August 1914, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment;

Wounded, gun shot wound, right thumb, amputation.

7th December 1914, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued
