28th June 1901, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 4th November 1901, Shornecliffe, Kent, neglecting to obey an order, 8 days confined to Barracks; 28th February 1902, Shornecliffe, Kent, making an improper reply to an NCO, 8 days confined to Barracks; 14th May 1902, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 4th June 1903, Shornecliffe, Kent, awarded 14 days imprisonment with hard labour, for insubordinate conduct in the ranks; 20th June 1903, to Duty; 7th December 1903, posted 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 11th February 1905, Hong Kong, disobeying an order, not jumping when ordered to do so, 14 days confined to Barracks; 15th March 1905, Hong Kong, irregular conduct when on sentry, sitting down, 10 days confined to Barracks & 3 extra guards; 17th May 1905, Hong Kong, hesitating to obey an order, improper conduct to an NCO, 72 hours imprisonment with hard labour; 28th August 1906, using obscene language to an NCO, 10 days confined to Barracks; 1st November 1906, insubordinate conduct on parade, 96 hours imprisonment with hard labour; 8th March 1907, Singapore, admitted to hospital with a sprained elbow, received in training, man not to blame; 15th December 1908, transferred to Army Reserve; 24th June 1913, discharged, termination of first period of engagement; 8th July 1913, Brighton, Sussex, re-enlisted; 5th August 1914, mobilized; 6th August 1914, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 8th September 1914, Lodge Hill, absent form 5.00pm to 9.00pm, 5 days confined to Barracks; 22nd February 1915, Fort Darland, reporting sick without a cause, 10 days Field Punishment No.2.; 11th March 1915, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 18th April 1915, wounded, gun shot wound, head; 24th August 1915, awarded 28 days Field Punishment No.1.; 4th October 1915, arrested, 5th October 1915, released, 10th November 1915.re-arrested and tried by Field General Court Martial for using insubordinate language & disobeying a lawful command. Sentenced to 1 year with hard labour. Sentenced commuted to 3 months Field Punishment No.1.; 17th July 1916, deprived of 14 days pay; 22nd July 1916, wounded, gun shot wound buttock; ?? September 1916, wounded, gun shot wound head, severe; 29th September 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.
31st August 1917, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued
