Formerly painters labourer. 16th January 1903, absconded; 18th July 1903, rejoined; 16th October 1903, posted; 12th February 1904, awaiting trial; 18th February 1904, convicted by Court Martial, 42 days; 31st March 1904, to duty; 18th August 1905, permitted to extend his Service to complete 8 years with the Colours; 3rd May 1906, posted Depot; 30th January 1917, transferred to Army Reserve; 16th January 1915, re-engaged for a further period of 4 years; 5th August 1914, mobilized; 6th August 1914, posted 1st Battalion; 4th September 1914, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 12th October 1914, wounded, gun shot wound to abdomen; 20th September 1914, deprived of Lance stripe; 6th January 1915, posted 3rd Battalion; 16th January 1916, discharged, Termination of first period of Engagement, having completed 12 months.

29th May 1916, re-enlisted under the conditions of A.O79.7.1916, to complete 21 years for pension, previous service 9 years 179 days with the Colours, 3 years 187 days Army Reserve, total 12 years 134 days; 7th JUne 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 27th March 1917, forfeits 3 days pay; 3rd May 1917, posted BEF.
5th April 1919, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds (gun shot wound abdomen). Silver War Badge issued.
Pension for 30% disability, 13 weeks at 8/3 a week, to be reviewed.
