1st March 1916, enlisted; 2nd March 1916, transferred to Army Reserve; 3rd January 1917, mobilized; 5th January 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st March 1917, posted 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment & BEF; 28th July 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th April 1919, Special Military Surgical Hospital, Tooting, SW17.

2nd May 1919, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued
