27th October 1915, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 31st October 1915, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th April 1916, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment & BEF; 15th August 1917, wounded, gun shot wound, fractured left leg; 5th November 1918, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

1st January 1919, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued

Disability 50%, Pension 13/9  a week for 26 weeks conditional. Bonus 20%.
