Private Thomas Perkins RASEY, 240923 (3260), "A" Company, 7th  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds, 55 Casualty Clearing Station, France, 24th August 1918, age 34.

Born Maidstone, Kent, son of Thomas and *Louisa Rasey, of Maidstone, Kent.

28th June 1884, St Peter, Maidstone, Kent, baptism of Thomas Perkins Rasey, son of Thomas and *Louisa Rasey.

*1900 September, Maidstone Registration District, Louisa Rasey, died age 52.

1903 December, Maidstone Registration District, Thomas Rasey married Ellen Turk.


1911 Census - 4 College Walks, Corralls Almshouses, Hayle Road, Maidstone, Kent - Thomas Rasey, head, age 73, married, jobbing gardener, retired, born Beeching Stoke, Wiltshire; Ellen Rasey, wife, age 47, married 7 years, no children, born Egerton, Kent; Thomas Perkins Rasey, son, age 26, single, brewers clerk, born Maidstone, Kent.


12th June 1912, Gravesend, Kent, married Esther Annie Whitaker, of 41, St. Philip's Avenue, Maidstone, Kent.

Previously served 1st Volunteer Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment / Kent Cyclists Battalion, discharged medically unfit.

Enlisted Bromley, Kent, age 31, Height 5ft 7inches, weight 9st 6lbs.

Home 24th May 1915 to 13th February 1918; BEF 14th February 1918 to 24th August 1918.

24th May 1915, enlisted & posted 2/5th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 16th June 1915, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 10th August 1915, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 16th September 1915, promoted Corporal; 18th May 1917, appointed unpaid Lance Sergeant; 15th September 1917, appointed Acting Sergeant; 13th February 1918, revoked to substantive rank of Corporal on posting overseas; 14th February 1918, posted BEF & 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 17th February 1918, posted 7 Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th February 1918, joined Battalion, In the Field; 1st March 1918, promoted Sergeant; 4th August 1918, reduced to Private under Sec 183 (2) AA Authority, 3rd Corps.

2nd March 1919, date when Separation Allowance of 15/- a week & Allotment of Pay of 10/6 a week payable to wife will cease.

3rd March 1919, pension of 13/9 a week awarded to widow.

Buried at Daours Communal Cemetery Extension, VI. C. 26., France.
