12th January 1914, enlisted; 4th April 1914, 3rd Class Certificate of Education; 8th August 1914, mobilized; 15th September 1914, forfeits 12 days pay; 31st October 1914, forfeits 7 days pay & awarded 14 days Field Punishment No.2. by Commanding Officer for absence; 26th January 1915, posted BEF & 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 27th January 1915, landed 5 Infantry Base Depot; 8th February 1915, joined Battalion, "C" Company, in the Field; 16th March 1915, awarded 14 days Field Punishment No.2; 8th March 1916, 14 Field Ambulance; 20th March 1916, 5 Infantry Base Depot; 3rd April 1916, joined Battalion; 22nd July 1916, wounded & missing.
