12th March 1915, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 17th March 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th April 1916, posted BEF & 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 29th January 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 23rd February 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

8th February 1917, 2nd Western General Hospital, Manchester - Medical Report on an Invalid - origin & place of disability, near St Omer, Frances,, Xmas 1916. He was acting as fatigue man on the grounds? at GHQ when he suffered from attacks of vertigo. He was invalided to the No.10 General Hospital & then to England later. He is 57 years of age and has lived a strenuous life as a blacksmith striker. He did not suffer from dizziness however till he was on duty in France. The heart action is increased in force with accentuation on the 2nd ???? sound. There is no murmur. ¼ permanently. Disability interis sclerosis.

20th April 1917, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness. Silver War Badge issued.

Pension 8/3 a week for 26 weeks, conditional.
