Private Samuel FIGG, S/5593, 1st Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds, at 21 Casualty Clearing Station, Flanders France, 9th September 1916, age 32.
Born Forest Hill, SE, son of Robert & Emma Rebecca (died 28th February 1919) Figg, 33 Larkbere Road, Lower Sydenham, Kent.
Enlisted 15th November 1904, (for six years), Maidstone, Kent, age 21, height 5ft 3 inches, weight 106lbs, figure right forearm, figure 4 dots left forearm, blue eyes, brown hair. Resided 56 Porthcawe Road, Lower Sydenham, Kent. Formerly greengrocers assistant.
Next of Kin - Brother of James W. Figg, of 73, Arkley Road, Walthamstow, London.

15th November 1904 to 8th August 1908, served as a Militiaman; 1905, 1906, 1907, 1908, present for annual training; 9th August 1908, transferred to 3rd Battalion, Special Reserve, Royal West Kent Regiment; 30th July 1911, Shorncliffe, not saluting an officer, 5 days confined to Barracks; 1909, 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913, present for annual training; 16th September 1910 & 1st August 1914, re- engaged for a further 4 years; 8th August 1914, mobilized; 18th September 1914, absent from Battalion Parade, 10 days confined to Barracks; 27th October 1914, 5 Infantry Base Depot; 4th November 1914, joined Battalion, "D" Company; 16th February 1916, In the Field, absent off Roll Call , 8.30pm to 10.35pm, deprived of 7 days pay; 3rd September 1916, wounded gun shot wound to the skull.
