2nd March 1916, called up; 3rd March 1916, posted Depot Maidstone, Kent; 9th March 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st July 1916, BEF, Infantry Base, France; 7th September 1916, posted Depot; 7th September 1916, wounded, gun shot wound left leg, slight; 13th November 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 6th January 1917, posted BEF; 9th January 1917, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th April 1917. wounded, remained on Duty; 9th May 1917, wounded, shoulder, right eye. both legs, fractured left tibia; 27th May 1917, posted Depot;

12th December 1917, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds.  Silver War Badge issued

Pension of 27/6 a week for 13 weeks, then 19/3 a week, to be reviewed in 15 weeks. Disability gun shot wounds both legs & right eye.
