Previously served in 5 London Field Ambulance, RAMC Corps, Territorial Force, 1240, 15th January 1912 to 2nd June 1912.

Home, 3rd June 1912 to 21st October 1913; India, 22nd October 1913 to 31st January 1915; India Expeditionary Force "D", 1st February 1915 to 6th October 1917; India, 7th October 1917 to 28th December 1917; Home, 29th December 1917 to 15th April 1918.

3rd June 1912, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th September 1912, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 22nd October 1913, posted 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 16th June 1914, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 30th January 1915, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 10th July 1916, deprived of his stripe, relegated to Private; 29th January 1917, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 29th December 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.

15th April 1918, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness. Silver War Badge issued.

Pension, 27/6 a week for 26 weeks.
