Born Clacton on Sea, Essex, son of James and Jane Clark, of Clacton-on-Sea.

26th December 1914, Wivenhoe, Essex, married Dora  Lilian Stebbing, spinster of Tower Stores, Vista Road, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.

Enlisted Clacton on Sea, Essex, age 25 years & 6 months, height 5ft 5½ inches, weight 138lbs. Formerly boot & harness repairer.

Home 29th November 1915 to 6th February 1917; 7th February 1917 to 9th May 1917.

29th November 1915, enlisted; 7th February 1917, Southampton, embarked; 28th February 1917, Alexandria, disembarked; 1st April 1917, joined Battalion, In the Field; 8th May 1917, 54th Casualty Clearing Station, wounded air raid, gun shot wound, right side; 9th May 1917, 54th Casualty Clearing Station, died of wounds, Syria.

24th December 1917, pension of 13/9 a week awarded to widow.

Buried at  Deir El Belah War Cemetery, A.183.,  Israel.
