Private Murray Kenrick Allstone RICE, 20126, 1st Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment. Died 19th November 1919, age 24.

Born Salcott, Essex, son of William & Esther Rice, Ship Inn, Old Hall, Tolleshunt D'Arcy, Essex.

Enlisted 6th February 1916, Tolleshunt D'Arcy, Essex, age 20 years & 3 months, height 5ft 8 inches, grey eyes, light brown hair. Formerly coalman.

Home, 6th February 1916 to 11th October 1917; BEF, 12th October 1917 to 4th January 1919; Home, 5th January 1919 to 8th May 1919.

6th February 1916, enlisted; 7th February 1916 to Army Reserve; 2nd May 1917, mobilized; 3rd May 1917, posted, General Service Cavalry, 33981; 4th May 1917, joined No.3. Depot, General Service Cavalry; 5th May 1917, posted 3rd Reserve Cavalry Regiment; 1st September 1917, transferred to Royal Fusiliers, 59289, 5th Reserve Battalion; 12th October 1917, posted BEF & 2nd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers; 14th October 1917, transferred to Royal West Kent Regiment & posted 1st Battalion; 26th October 1917, posted missing; 28th October 1917,  Prisoner of War, shrapnel wound, left side; 5th January 1919, repatriated & arrived in London; 5th January 1919, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th January 1919 to 10th January 1919, Hospital, wounded chest, trench feet, has lost little toe of each foot, sore at base of big toe, heart very rapid & irregular, transferred to General Military War Hospital, Colchester, Essex.

8th May 1919, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds Silver War Badge issued. Age 23. Address on discharge, Ship Inn, Old Hall, Tolleshunt D'Arcy, Essex.

9th May 1919, pension, 16/6 a week for 27 weeks, conditional. Disability 60%, gun shot wound, chest, debility, loss of toes.

Buried  at Tollesbury (St Mary) Churchyard, At North end, United Kingdom. Commemorated Salcott War Memorial. / Tollesbury Roll of Honour.
