Private James Ronald Sidney VEALE, L/9652, 2nd Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died, 29th September 1916, Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force, 

Born Acton, London, Middlesex, enlisted 17th August 1911, Woolwich, Kent, age 18, height 5ft 7 inches, weight 129lbs, resided Barking, Essex. Formerly labourer in soap factory.

Son of James Thomas Richard & Jessica Veale, 47 Abbey Road, Barking,. Essex.

Home, 17th August 1911 to 18th December 1913; 19th December 1913 to 31st January 1915; Indian Expeditionary Force D, 1st February 1915 to 29th September 1916.

3rd April 1912, Dublin, **** from **** on CO's Parade, 3 days confined to Barracks; 11th June 1912, Kilbride, not being in possession of a full kit, 3 days confined to Barracks; 21st November 1912, Longmoor, absent from Parade at 6.00pm, 3 days confined to Barracks; 7th August 1913, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 18th November 1913, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 25th February 1914, Multan, neglect of duty whilst Company **** Corporal i.e. late reporting to Officer in Charge, Company, admonished; 7th December 1914, Fort Thamsi, *******  *******, reprimanded;  7th December 1914,deprived of Lance Stripe, misconduct;  29th April 1916, taken Prisoner at Kut al Amara.

12th May 1920, Director of Graves Registration reports that the above named soldiers grave has been located. Death officially accepted as having occurred between 14th September 1916 & 31st December 1916.

Died a Prisoner of War,  29th September 1916 at Tarsous.

Buried at Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, XXI. Q. 8., Iraq.
