Private James Rome FARMER, 242325, 1st  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, (formerly 5448, Herefordshire Regiment), killed in action, Flanders France, 4th October 1917, age 39.

Born Garton, Lancashire, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Farmer.

7th July 1878, Gorton, Lancashire, baptism of James Rome Farmer, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Farmer.

19th July 1911, Wesleyan Chapel, Levenshulme, Manchester, married Mary Makin, spinster, of 10. Buxton Avenue, West Didsbury, Manchester, Lancashire.

Enlisted Hyde, Lancashire, age 37 years & 6months, height 5ft 5¼ inches, weight 119lbs.  Resided 1 South View, off Ashton, Street, Bredbury, Lancashire. Formerly traveller.

December 1915, enlisted; 23rd January 1916 to 26th January 1916, Canterbury Hospital, scabies; 8th January 1917 to 25th January 1917, dermatitis.

4th May 1918, pension of 13/9 a week awarded to widow.

15th December 1919, Statement of Relatives - Widow, Mary Farmer, 10. Buxton Avenue, West Didsbury, Manchester; Mother, Elizabeth Farmer, 10. Buxton Avenue, West Didsbury, Manchester; Brother - Alexander Farmer, 40, 16 Edenhall Avenue, Levenshulme, Manchester; Brother Half Blood - Fred Farmer, about 50, Levenshulme, Manchester?; Sister Half Blood, Mary Farmer, about 48, address unknown.

Buried at Hooge Crater Cemetery, V. L. 7, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
