Son of George Mitchell.

Home, 12th July 1915 to 2nf May 1916; BEF, 3rd May 1916 to 19th November 1917; Home, 20th November 1917 to 11th February 1919.

12th July 1915, enlisted posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 20th April 1916, forfeits 36 days pay for absence, awarded 28 days detention; 14th April 1917, In the Field, whilst on active service, late on Parade, 3 days confined to Barracks; 20th November 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.

11th February 1919, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds Silver War Badge issued.

Pension, 22/- a week to be reviewed in 52 weeks. Disability, gun shot wound left buttock.
