Born Deptford, Kent, enlisted 22nd November 1912, Woolwich, age 19. Formerly bricklayers labourer.

Son of James Larkman, 10 Perry Hall Road, St Marys Cray, Kent. Four brothers.

Previously served 6 Rifle Brigade, Special Reserve, Service No.55, enlisted 4th September 1911, Woolwich, age 18, height 5ft 2½ inches, weight 100lbs, completed 4 moths training, musketry course, 24th May 1912 to 23rd June 1912, served until 21st November 1912.

22nd November 1912, enlisted & posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment ; 26th November 1912, joined Battalion at Dublin; 19th December 1913, posted 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st January 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st April 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

21st August 1917, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued.
