26th October 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 28th October 1914, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 30th September 1915, wounded; 29th October 1915, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.

15th March 1916, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued.
