8th December 1910, New Cross, enlisted in 3rd Battalion, Special Reserve, Royal West Kent Regiment, Service No.8195, age 18 years & 3 months, height 5ft 6⅛ inches, weight 111lbs, fresh complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair, moles on chest & neck, scar right side of forehead, birthmark on chest; Formerly potman; Character good; 162 days training; discharged as joining Regular Army.

Enlisted Maidstone, Kent, age 18 years & 8 months. height 5ft 6 inches, weight 116lbs, fresh complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair, scar over right eye. Resided  9, Hadland Street, Rotherhithe, London SE. Formerly potman.

19th May 1911, Maidstone, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th June 1911, Maidstone, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 30th September 1911, Bordon, making an improper reply to Lance Corporal Tomlinson, using threatening language to Lance Corporal Tomlinson, 168 hours detention; 3rd October 1911, Dublin; 23rd October 1911, Dublin, using insubordinate language to an NCO, 14 days detention; 22nd January 1912, admitted to hospital with infected wound little finger, right hand, injury occurred 11th December 1912, preparing to go on fatigue duty at Richmond Barracks, Dublin, getting mitts out of his box when he slipped and knocked his finger against the lid. he was in no way to blame; 22nd January 1912 to 14th February 1912, King George V Hospital, Dublin, infected wound, finger right hand; 16th April 1912, Dublin, being in possession of dummy drill ammunition, contrary to orders, 5 days confined to Barracks; 23rd September 1912 to 4th November 1912, Dublin Hospital, appendicitis, acute ulcerative, acute gangrene, perforation abscess formation, appendectomy, drained, healed rapidly, excellent scar, discharged to sick furlough; 17th April 1913, Dublin, irregular conduct on Parade, not lying still when ordered to do so, 7 days confined to Barracks; 7th August 1913, Dublin, deficiencies of kit when parading for route march, making an improper reply to Sergeant Glazebrook, 168 hours detention; 24th September 1913, Employment Sheet, insubordinate, sober & willing, no apparent special qualifications for civil employment; 10th January 1914, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 11th January 1914, Multan; 2nd November 1914, Jhansi; 13th August 1915, Nasirabad, absent from fatigue Parade at 8.30am, 3 days confined to Barracks;15th October 1915, Bombay, SS Bandra, embarked;  22nd October 1915, Busra, disembarked.
