Born 20th September 1887, Greenwich, Kent, enlisted 31st August 1905, Frances Street, Woolwich, Kent, age 18, height 5ft 6 inches, weight 127lbs, resided 840 Old Kent Road, London. Formerly gas works labourer.

Son of Harry Brushwood, 12 Frobisher Street, East Greenwich, Kent.

Husband of Alice Maria Brushwood, (nee Legrove), married 30th December 1914, Register Office, Bermondsey.

Previously served in 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

Home, 31st August 1905 to 9th February 1906; Malta, 10th February 1906 to 27th December 1906; Home, 28th December 1906 to 30th October 1907; Singapore, 31st October 1907 to 27th November 1908; India, 28th November 1908 to 5th February 1914; Home, 6th February 1914 to 13th August 1914; Active Service, 14th August 1914 to 29th August 1914; Home, 30th August 1914 to 26th June 1915.

31st August 1905, enlisted and posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 31st October 1907, posted 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 20th September 1911, appointed Lance Corporal; 17th January 1912, reverted to Private, own accord; 7th February 1914, transferred to Army Reserve; 5th August 1914, mobilized; 6th August 1914, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

Wounded, gun shot wound, left hip.

26th June 1915, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued
