Private James Ekron LITTLE, G/16538, 7th   Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, (formerly PS/8671, Royal Fusiliers), killed in action, Ypres, Flanders, France, 24th July 1917, age 20.

Born 3rd August 1897, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland, enlisted 10th September 1915, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland. Formerly Solicitors Clerk.

Eldest Son of George Little, (joiner), & Margaret Little, (daughter of George Deans), of 176, Philip St., Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland.

Educated Todd's Nook School, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland.

Served with the Expeditionary Force France & Flanders, from 2nd February 1916.

An Officer wrote: "Your son was a great favourite of mine, as he was always of a happy disposition, and such a splendid fellow at his work." and a comrade: "He was a fine soldier and a brave lad, loved by all of us for his cheerfulness and his readiness to help."

Unmarried.

Commemorated at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Panel 45 and 47, Belgium.
