30th May 1916, enlisted; 31st May 1916, transferred to Army Reserve; 14th June 1916, mobilized and Posted Royal Navy; 15th June 1916, rejected by Royal Navy; 21st June 1916, mobilized; 30th June 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 16th August 1917, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment & BEF; 22nd August 1917, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th October 1917, wounded, shell wound chest penetrating; 13th October 1917, General Hospital, Le Treport; 1st November 1917 to England  on Hospital Ship; 2nd November 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.

7th December 1917, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued

Pension 27/6 a week to be reviewed in 26 weeks. Debility, gun shot wound chest penetrating.
