Born Colchester, Essex.

Next of Kin (Brother) -  Joseph Barker, of 22, Cedars Road, Colchester, Essex.

Enlisted Ipswich, Suffolk, age 36, height 5ft 7 inches, weight 143lbs. Formerly labourer. Resided Model Lodging House, Fore Street, Ipswich, Suffolk.

Home 21st February 1916 to 12th September 1916; BEF 13th September 1916 to 5th December 1916.

21st February 1916 enlisted; 22nd February 1916, to Army Reserve; 20th April 1916, mobilized; 27th April 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 27th April 1916, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 29th June 1916, not complying with an order, 5 days confined to Camp; 1st September 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 13th September 1916, embarked; 13th September 1916, Infantry Base Depot, Etaples; 29th September 1916, joined 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th December 1916, admitted 37 Casualty Clearing Station, France reports, 14629, Pte J Barker 6 RWK  died 12.20am nephritis.

Buried at  Avesnes - Le - Comte Communal Cemetery Extension, II.B.21., Pas de Calais, France.
