31st May 1915. enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th September 1915, seventeen teeth extracted & seventeen in denture; 8th September 1915, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st January 1916, posted BEF & 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 28th February 1916, wounded, gassed; 9th April 1916, wounded, Messines, gun shot wound, severe; 26th April 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 27th April 1916 to 6th October 1916, 3rd Southern General Hospital, Oxford, gun shot wound, right buttock, bullet passed just below spine & out of buttock, xray shows impacted fracture of neck of right femur & some metal in the wound; 6th October 1916 to 10th March 1917, VAD.

27th March 1917, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds Silver War Badge issued.

Pension, 18/9 a week for 26 weeks, conditional.
