Private Harry HOVEY, L/9090, 2nd  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of Spanish Fever, on or about 5th November 1918, at Bakers Factory, Constantinople, as a Prisoner of War,  with Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force,  age 28.

Born Deptford, Kent, son of Frederick and Bridget Hovey, of 5 Finch Street Deptford, London.  / 60 Watergate Street, Deptford.

Previously  served in 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, Special Reserve, 7273, 11th December 1907 to 21st October 1908.

Enlisted New Cross, Kent, age 18 years 8 months, height 5ft 5½ inches, weight 120lbs, clasped hands & head of female left forearm, harp Hannah in scroll Hovey right forearm, fresh complexion, grey eyes, brown hair. Formerly soap works labourer.

11th August 1919, Probate - Harry Hovey of 5 Finch Street Deptford, died between 1st & 10th November 1918, in Turkey. Administration London 11th August to Frederick Hovey, stevedore. Effects £139 5s 8d.

Buried at Haidar Pasha Cemetery, I. H. 6., Turkey.

NOTE: Soldiers Died in the Great War show date of death as 5th November 1918; CWGC web site show it as 10th November 1918.
