3rd April 1917, joined Sherwood Foresters at Wolverhampton; 7th April 1917, posted 4th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters; 26th June 1917, posted BEF & 10th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters; 27th June 1917, embarked at Folkestone; 21st July 1917, Infantry Base Depot, transferred to 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 11th December 1917, Paschendale, France, frost bite both feet, 54 Casualty Clearing Station; 18th December 1917, admitted 55 Garrison Hospital, Boulogne, trench feet; 27th December 1917, to England, St David; St Johns VAD, Southfleet, then 1st Southern General Hospital, Birmingham; 12th December 1918, Tipperary, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

18th March 1919, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness. Silver War Badge issued

Disability 30%, frost bitten feet.

Pension 8/3 a week for 52 weeks conditional. Pension expires 16th March 1920. Report of Medical Board, 16th January 1920, prevents less than 20%. Final weekly allowance of 5/6 a week for 26 weeks from 17th March 1920, pension expires 14th September 1920.
