Private George CLARKE,  G/9439,  11th  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds, (gun shot wounds, right arm & chest, secondary hemorrhage), 23 General Hospital, Etaples, Flanders France, 26th September 1916, at 6.20pm, age 23.

Born Deptford, SE, son of Henry and Elizabeth Clarke, of London.

23rd December 1915, Camberwell, married Margaret Georgina Stroud, spinster, of 32, Varcoe Road, South Bermondsey, London.

Enlisted  Deptford, London, SE, age 22 years & 176 days, height 5ft 8 inches, weight 130lbs.  Resided 115a Rollins St, Old Kent Road, S E . Formerly biscuit maker.

Hone 6th August 19115 to 2nd May 1916; BEF 3rd May 1916 to 26th September 1916.

6th August 1915, enlisted & posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd May 1916, posted BEF.

Pension awarded to widow, 2nd April 1917 of 10/- a week, increasing to 13/9 a week from 4th April 1917

Buried at  Etaples Military Cemetery, XI. B. 17A., Pas de Calais, France.
